Anne Of Green Gables is one of Canada’s favourite stories, and the musical version has become a Canadian Theatre Classic. Smile Theatre is proud to have been granted permission to offer our audiences this “Smile-sized” version of such a wonderful show. Our thanks go to the original writing team – Don Harron, Norman and Elaine Campbell, and Mavor Moore – for first creating this show, and then to them and their families for offering Smile the opportunity to take it on our Smile Tour. This story, originally written by Lucy Maude Montgomery, made a Canadian heroine out of the feisty, imaginative and endearing red-haired orphan, Anne (don’t forget the “e”) Shirley. She embodies a Canadian spirit and determination that is still inspiring – and small not-for-profit companies like Smile Theatre can learn a lot from her passion, resolve and wisdom.
