the Ontario Arts Council's Theatre Creators' Reserve Program.

In essence, Smile is eligible to recommend writing grants of from $1000 to $5000 for projects that we find of interest. The projects need not be for our unique Smile audience, but we are, of course, particularly interested in seeing new work that would be appropriate for our Smile Theatre tours. Smile Theatre invites applications from writers of Musical Theatre - from both Senior and Emerging Artists. We will welcome applications any time up to January 15, 2010, and we will attempt to respond within 2 weeks of receiving the application package. (Application forms are available from the OAC, not from Smile Theatre directly. We are required by the Program Guidelines to respond within seven days of reviewing applications, and so we are committing to try and review the applications within seven days of receiving the application.) Our total allocation is $5000, so the sooner we receive your application packages, the more likely it is that we will still have some of our allotted funds available to us. Smile Theatre is honoured to have been included in this program by the Ontario Arts Council, and we look forward to hearing from those of you who have Musical Theatre projects you would like us to consider.
