COMING SOON: A MUSICAL ABOUT YOU!
As a Part of Fundraising Efforts, Toronto’s Smile Theatre
Is Creating a Musical about a Lucky Contributor

TORONTO, Ontario (October 15th, 2009) – Smile Theatre, the highly acclaimed company that brings professional productions to senior citizens throughout Ontario is initiating a unique fundraising effort. Contributors will have the opportunity to have a musical written about them, or about someone important in their lives, by the award-winning Canadian playwright and composer, Jim Betts. The winner will be chosen by a draw in the Spring of 2010 and every $50.00 contribution entitles you to an entry. The more you contribute, the greater your chances.

“We’re calling this The Greatest Story Never Told,” Jim Betts, Smile Theatre’s Artistic Director, says. “Last season I wrote a musical about my mother to celebrate her 90th birthday and it was incredibly well received. Everyone has a wonderful story if you look closely enough and we think this will be a unique way to encourage people to support Smile Theatre – and thank one lucky contributor.”

For over 30 years the Smile Theatre Company has been bringing professional theatre from the light-hearted musical tradition directly to Ontario seniors to engage, rejuvenate, encourage and rekindle imaginations – seniors in retirement residences, nursing homes, long term care facilities, hospitals and other facilities who, because of physical or transportation difficulties, cannot attend regular performances.

Smile Theatre is a registered not-for-profit charity. In order to continue to deliver on its promises, Smile Theatre asks you to give generously and to accept this heartfelt offer to immortalize one of its supporters.
