Theatre group brings smiles to seniors

It was standing room only for a recent performance of the musical, “Girl Crazy”, at the Terraces of Baycrest. The hour-long production by Smile Theatre was a big hit with the more than 100 residents who laughed and hummed along to many familiar show tunes. “It was wonderful,” says 94-year-old Esther Clairmont. “We need that kind of thing here to make us forget about our problems. There is a lot of entertainment here, but this was very professional.” Smile Theatre is a non-profit, professional theatre company that performs for seniors across Ontario. Terraces residents will be able to enjoy the company’s full season of five shows for the third year thanks to the support of the Lou Gilbert and Perry Sherman Endowment Fund.
