Artist Biographies
Mark Allan
Mark is thrilled to be performing for all of you again. The last time you saw him was in Beautiful Dreamer – the Music of Stephen Foster. Mark has been performing all over Canada and the U.S.A. for the past 11 years, and truly believes that “Smile” audiences are the warmest and most appreciative audiences he has ever played for! He dedicates his performance to the memory of his friend Tom Kneebone. Miss you T.K.!
Donnie Macphee
Originally from London, Ontario, Donnie is thrilled to be making his “Smile” debut. At the beginning of this year, he work-shopped a brand new musical entitled Choralocity, and just before that, Donnie was onboard Celebrity Cruise Line’s MV Mercury in the Mexican Riviera. “It’s amazing to be part of a company that has had so many great actors working in their productions”. Daniel MacDonell, Stage Manager
Daniel is delighted to be on the road again with Smile Theatre, after appearing in At The Hostess in 1998. Daniel received his BFA in Acting at the School of Dramatic Art at the University of Windsor. Since graduating in 1991, he has worked in many aspects of theatre; Musical Theatre, Dramas, Classical Theatre, Clown, and Opera. As a performer, he has appeared in Les Miserables in Toronto and Ottawa, and two seasons at The Stratford Festival. He has performed across Canada in productions as varied as The Mikado in Victoria, BC, and Aristophanes’ The Clouds in St. John’s Newfoundland.
Tom Kneebone, C.M., O.Ont., Writer
For fifteen wonderful years, Tom was the Artistic Director of Smile. As a performer, Tom appeared with the London Old Vic, the Stratford Festival, the Shaw Festival, the Canadian Opera Company, the National Ballet of Canada, the Charlottetown Festival, on Broadway and in countless films and television productions. Smile is very proud that Tom has been honoured this past year with the Order of Ontario, the Order of Canada and the Queen’s Jubilee Medal. We are sad to inform you that Tom passed away November 15, 2003. We dedicate our efforts to him, and we intend to continue his legacy of Smiles.

Lezlie Wade, Director
Lezlie is thrilled to be directing for The Smile Theatre Company. Other shows for Smile include Love Knots and Lariats: The Wilf Carter Story. An accomplished actor and director Lezlie has worked for theatre companies across Canada including Kaleidoscope, Pink Ink, Workshop West, Sudbury Theatre Centre, Drayton Entertainment, Soulpepper and Theatre Orangeville to name a few. Currently Lezlie is in rehearsals for Man of La Mancha at the Waterloo Stage Theatre. This summer Lezlie will be directing For The Pleasure of Seeing Her Again and Cowgirls for The Georgian Theatre Festival where she is the Managing Artistic Director. This Christmas her adaptation of A Christmas Carol will be presented by Carousel Theatre in Vancouver. Lezlie is also a member of the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab and has been nominated for the Pauline McGibbon Award in Directing. Thanks to Kevin, Tom and Sandra for their help.

Kiri-Lyn Muir, Choreographer
Kiri-Lyn is delighted to be back with Smile for her fourth show. Other Smile credits include, In Peggy’s Garden, Mona Parsons, and Sweethearts. As a choreographer, Kiri-Lyn has worked around Ontario setting such shows as Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Sweeny Todd, Jasper Station, Blue Skies, A Christmas Carol, and Eighteen Wheels. In the spring and summer she is looking forward to working on The Music Man, Suds, and remounting the original choreography of Cats for the first Ontario regional theatre production of that memorable dance show. Thanks to all at Smile for another positive working experience.

Bridget Steis, Set, Costumes & Props Designer
I hope you are ready for another Lezlie and Bridget creation! These ladies are also preparing exciting shows this summer The Affections of May and Cowgirls with The Georgian Theatre Festival. Bridget has designed for: TacTheatrical, Talk is free Theatre, Kahina Productions, The Georgian Theatre Festival, Bluewater Summer Playhouse, Sudbury Theatre Centre, Theatre Emanation, Smile Theatre, among others and received a nomination for the 2002 Pauline McGibbon Award. I’d like to thank Ken, most of all, for being my biggest and best supporter.
