Artist Biographies
Katie Grube
Katie is very excited to be back performing with Smile after doing The Gift of The Magi & Other Stories over the Christmas season. Originally from the Sunshine city of Orillia, Katie went to the University of Windsor and received her BFA in Music Theatre. She has performed in a variety of theatres and shows throughout Ontario including: Brighton Beach Memoirs, Pirates of Penzance, Vaudville (Drayton Entertainment), Copacabana (Waterloo Stage), Nunsense 1 & 2 (Theatre Collingwood), Ol’ Blue Eyes (Twenty Valley Playhouse), Bunch O’ Munch (Magnus Theatre), Come Fly With Me (Showboat Festival Theatre). Katie is very much looking forward to touring around with Bill and working with Tom and everyone at Smile. Have fun and enjoy the show!
Bill Brillinger, Stage Manager
Bill is pleased to be returning to Smile Theatre for his fifth season. This season he has Stage Managed Come Fly With Me and Gift of the Magi & Other Stories. Next up for Bill is Stage Managing the Norm Foster world premiere of Old Love for the Lighthouse Festival Theatre in Port Dover.
Sandra Margolese, Writer
Sandra is proud to be a part of this season at Smile Theatre. She has worked on a dozen shows for Smile: as an assistant to the late Tom Kneebone, as a director, writer of Fever, At the Hop and Everything's Coming Up Rosie and also as an actor, concert singer and administrator. Other performing credits include: Phantom of the Opera (Pantages Theatre), Pirates of Penzance, Mikado, and Vaudeville (Drayton Entertainment), The Music Man (Theatre Aquarius), and Fiddler on the Roof (Huron Country Playhouse). Sandra currently lives with her husband in Dubai and is enjoying a career in jazz concerts and recording.
Carson Thomas (Tom Carson), Director
Tom Carson is proud to be the General & Artistic Manager of the wonderful Smile Theatre. As a director, his work has appeared across Canada, winning the hearts of audiences from Montreal to Vancouver. He has received critical acclaim as well, including three nominations for “Outstanding Production – Theatre For Young Audiences” at Toronto’s prestigious Dora Awards. Tom also writes for the stage, as well as poetry for young children, and runs Carson Academy, a theatre school for kids in Halton Region. He is married to wife, Stephanie and has a son, Jonah and a daughter, Samantha. He lives in Milton, Ontario.
Sheree Tams, Set & Costume Designer
Sheree is pleased to be returning to Smile for her third show, having recently designed The Great Farini and Gift of the Magi & Other Stories. Other recent design credits include Slavery, a national UK tour for Tara Arts, Get Away at the Old Red Lion Theatre Pub in London, and Will the Real JT Leroy Please Stand Up? at Buddies in Badtimes Theatre. www.shereetams.com
Jeanine Noyes, Musical Director
Jeanine is delighted to be back at Smile for her third Smile production this season. Jeanine previously worked with Tom Carson for three seasons at Brookstone Theatre in 2000 Candles. Nominated for Dora Awards in the categories of Outstanding Musical Direction and Outstanding Performance by a Female in a Lead Role for her work in A Dixie Gospel (Brookstone Theatre), Jeanine also writes and performs her own music in Ontario, and just recently returned from her third tour in Germany. Her two solo releases are transparent and a Christmas CD called He’s Here, which was nominated for a Shai Award.
