Artist Biographies
Eric Craig
Having trained in the University of Windsor’s musical theatre program, Eric has performed in numerous theatres across Ontario. Selected credits include the Canadian premiere production of Edges (Edgy Productions), I Do! I Do! (Sunshine & Company), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Sudbury Theatre Centre), Bye Bye Birdie, Redemption, Colette: The Colours of Love, The Glass Menangerie (TIFT), Forever Plaid, Sherlock’s Last Case (Showboat Festival), and A Christmas Carol last year with Smile. Thanks to 3SG and much love and thanks go to his family.
Katie Grube
Katie is very excited to be performing in her first show with Smile. She has been performing in a variety of theatres all over Ontario since graduating from the University of Windsor in 2001. Some of those theatres and shows include Brighton Beach Memoirs, Pirates of Penzance, Vaudville (Drayton Entertainment), Copacabana (Waterloo Stage), Nunsense 1 & 2 (Theatre Collingwood), Ol’ Blue Eyes (Twenty Valley Playhouse), Bunch O’ Munch (Magnus Theatre), Come Fly With Me (Showboat Festival Theatre). Katie is very much looking forward to touring around and performing with her friend Eric and working with Tom and everyone at Smile. Have fun and enjoy the show!
Bill Brillinger, Stage Manager
Bill is pleased to be returning to Smile Theatre for his fifth season. He already started off this season by stage managing Come Fly With Me.
Laura Bonesteel
Laura is very pleased to be returning for her second Smile show. She is a 2005 graduate of Sheridan College’s Music Theatre Performance program. Laura’s favourite credits include Cabaret (Stage West), Anne of Green Gables (Stage West), dancer in the Home Sweet Home...less benefit show (Princess of Wales), Radio Daze (Smile Theatre), Sweet Charity (Theatre Sheridan) Marian Paroo in The Music Man (Theatre Sheridan). Most recently she appeared in a Womens Network series called In Dreams. Laura is thrilled to be performing for you today and thanks Tom and Kevin for the opportunity. Michael Longstaff
On stage, Michael has appeared in Toronto, Montreal, London’s West End and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Favourite roles include Jerry in Edward Albee’s Zoo Story and Bobby in David Mamet’s American Buffalo. He was part of the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival’s Comedie of Errors, and toured Quebec, Ontario and Winnipeg with Montréal Youtheatre’s The Other Side of the Closet. He played Rupert Gillis on CBC’s Road to Avonlea, appeared recently in Showcase’s Naked Josh and Show Me Yours, and in the independent feature Drummer Boy (2003 Montreal World Film Festival). He is a graduate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (UK) and The Theatre School in London, Ontario.
Joy Prime, Stage Manager
Joy is delighted to return to Smile Theatre this season with Gift of the Magi. Since touring with At the Hop earlier this year, Joy has Assistant Stage Managed two productions at the Stratford Festival, and Stage Managed a show with the Red Socks Company. Previous theatre credits include: the Grand Theatre (London), the Canadian Opera Company, Ontario Special Olympics, Upper Canada Playhouse and Persephone Theatre (Saskatoon). In October 2003, Joy married the ‘joy’ of her life – her husband Steve. They currently reside in Toronto, Where Steve is completing his PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at York University. Joy thanks Steve for his unwavering support.
Carson Thomas (Tom Carson), Director
Tom Carson is proud to be the General & Artistic Manager of the wonderful Smile Theatre. As a director, his work has appeared across Canada, winning the hearts of audiences from Montreal to Vancouver. He has received critical acclaim as well, including three nominations for “Outstanding Production – Theatre For Young Audiences” at Toronto’s prestigious Dora Awards. Tom also writes for the stage, as well as poetry for young children, and runs Carson Academy, a theatre school for kids in Halton Region. He is married to wife, Stephanie and has a son, Jonah and a daughter, Samantha. He lives in Milton, Ontario.
Sheree Tams, Set & Costume Designer
Sheree’s recent theatre design credits include: Slavery, a national UK tour for Tara Arts, Get Away at the Old Red Lion Theatre Pub in London, Will the Real JT Leroy Please Stand Up? at Buddies in Badtimes Theatre, Violet the Pilot and Jillian Jiggs at Solar Stage Theatre in Toronto Canada. Sheree has designed shows in NYC, London and Canada. She is a graduate of the Motley theatre design course. www.shereetams.com
Jeanine Noyes, Musical Director
This is Jeanine’s first Smile production although she’s previously worked with Tom Carson for three seasons at Brookstone Theatre in 2000 Candles. She’s been nominated for Dora Awards in the categories of “Outstanding Musical Direction” and “Outstanding Performance by a Female in a Lead Role” for her work in A Dixie Gospel also at Brookstone Theatre. Jeanine writes and performs her own music in Ontario and has recently returned from her third tour in Germany. Her two solo releases are transparent and a Christmas CD called He’s Here, which was nominated for a Shai Award in the seasonal category. Jeanine also teaches music to children and conducts a high school choir. www.jeaninenoyes.com
